Class began with a prayer and handing out of the text books. Each student received a copy of Blessed are the Bored in Spirit and Father McBride’s Teen Catechism. We’ll be using these books for each class, so please be sure they bring them.
We reviewed the Q&A questions for confirmation that dealt with the sacrament itself. This was a follow-up to our discussions during class last week.
The class was divided up into small groups to discuss this week’s reading assignment, which was the Introduction and Chapter 1 of Blessed are the Bored in Spirit. We spent a good amount of time discussing these readings.
We ended class with a review of the assignments until next class. As we have 3 weeks between now and then, there’s something for each week. Here are the assignments:
9/26 – 10/2: Read and Journal Teen Catechism, Chapters 1,2 & 3.
10/3 – 10/9: Read and Journal Chapter 2 of Blessed are the Bored in Spirit.
10/10 – 10/16: Read and Journal Chapters 5, 10, and 11 in Teen Catechism.
I realize this may seem like a significant amount of work, but if they spend 15 minutes a day on this, they can easily complete the work. Each chapter in Teen Catechism should take no more than 2 days. We’ll be discussing most of these readings in the next class on October 16th.
