The Bible and the Virgin Mary

If ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ, as St. Jerome famously stated, then ignorance of Scripture is also ignorance of Mary. This is because “What the Catholic faith teaches about Mary is based on what it believes about Christ, and what it teaches about Mary illumines in turn its faith in Christ” (CCC 487). Following the interpretive pattern of the authors of Scripture and the Fathers of the Church, The Bible and the Virgin Mary examines the role of ...

A Call for Contemporary Musicians!

St. Philip’s is always on the lookout for anybody seeking to glorify the Lord in song at our liturgies. We would especially like to invite youth to participate, particularly those with ideas for new liturgical music to be considered. The Contemporary Music Group would be responsible for providing the music ...

Religious Education Tuition Increase

Religious Education Tuition Increase

After careful consideration, St. Philip’s Finance Council has requested a slight tuition increase for the 2017-2018 RE year. Catechists Needed for the 2017-2018 school year

Please see Ms. Miller in the office if you are considering volunteering your time to the children of St. Philip’s. Our Religious Education teachers are a great asset to our parish! They, along with Ms. Miller, educate our children on  all aspects of the bible from new testament, old testament and how it relates to their lives as young Catholics. This is a truly rewarding way to help mold the young minds of our parish.  Please consider being a part ...

Bishops Annual Lenten Appeal

Bishops Annual Lenten Appeal

March 2017

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We find ourselves at the beginning of another Lenten season with a wonderful opportunity to step back from the ordinary in order to contemplate the extraordinary. Lent is a season of fasting, self-denial, spiritual growth, conversion, and simplicity.  It is a time for taking spiritual inventory and then confronting those things which hinder our personal relationships with Jesus Christ and our service to Him.  It is truly fitting that the season of Lent ...
